A simple, spicy noodle recipe to help ring in the Asian New Year. Noodles represent longevity-and we all want that, right? Make the sauce a few days ahead and store it in the fridge to allow the flavors to mingle. The spark of heat comes from the ginger, garlic and Sambal olek and brings warmth to the digestive system.
In small bowl combine, oyster sauce, sesame oil, tamari sauce, sake, vinegar, garlic, ginger and sambal olek. Set aside or store in the fridge for up to 10 days. Little tip, make this a day or two ahead to allow the flavor to better infuse.
Prep vegetables. In a wok with heat sesame oil. Toss in vegetables and toss a few times. Toss in noodles and add 1/4-1/2 cup of sauce over, thoroughly combining. Be careful to not over cook the noodles or the vegetables, you want the vegetable heated through, yet still crisp. Add more sauce if necessary. Remove from heat and garnish with black sesame seeds.
